Interview with the CEO of AzarJam Chemical

Glass-lined reactors, among the most critical pieces of equipment used in highly sensitive chemical industries, are now designed and manufactured by AzarJam Chemical. This achievement has positioned Iran among the world’s leading producers of advanced chemical process equipment, making it the 12th country capable of manufacturing glass-lined reactors and related technologies.

Founded in 2004 as a subsidiary of Farayand Company (established in 1991), AzarJam Chemical specializes in the design, manufacturing, and installation of chemical processing plants and corrosion-resistant equipment. The company is also a pioneer in the production of fluoropolymer-lined equipment utilizing PTFE, PFA, FEP, and ECTFE coatings. Today, AzarJam Chemical’s core expertise lies in manufacturing highly corrosion-resistant equipment, including glass-lined reactors and fluoropolymer-lined process equipment for demanding industrial applications.

Serving the Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, and Chemical Industries

According to the CEO of AzarJam Chemical, the company manufactures a wide range of equipment for the chemical process industry, including glass-lined reactors, storage vessels, heat exchangers, towers, pipes, fittings, valves, spare parts, and auxiliary equipment.

These products are extensively used in industries where severe corrosion is a major challenge, including petrochemical complexes, pharmaceutical raw material manufacturers, detergent and surfactant producers, fertilizer plants, pesticide manufacturers, and water treatment chemical facilities.

Among the company’s notable customers are major petrochemical producers, pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturers, and leading detergent companies throughout Iran.

From Sanctions to Self-Sufficiency and Export Success

The CEO noted that international sanctions and import restrictions on specialized process equipment created an opportunity for domestic innovation.

“Equipment similar to ours was no longer available through imports. We succeeded in developing and manufacturing these products locally, fully meeting domestic demand. In recent years, we have also entered international markets and exported our products to countries such as India, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and other regional markets.”

He emphasized that only a limited number of countries possess the capability to manufacture glass-lined reactors and related equipment, placing Iran among a select group of global producers.

Manufactured to International Standards

Discussing the competitive advantages of AzarJam Chemical’s products, the CEO highlighted that all equipment is manufactured in accordance with internationally recognized quality standards.

“Our glass-lined reactors offer quality that exceeds many imported alternatives from lower-cost manufacturing regions. At the same time, thanks to competitive production costs, including access to affordable energy and skilled labor, we can offer world-class products at highly competitive prices.”

He also emphasized the importance of local after-sales support, refurbishment services, and re-glassing capabilities, which significantly reduce lifecycle costs for customers and ensure long-term operational reliability.

Complete Localization of Glass-Lined Reactor Technology

One of the company’s latest achievements is the localization of the specialized glass formulation used as the protective lining inside glass-lined reactors.

“Previously, this material had to be imported. Today, we manufacture the glass composition domestically and have achieved complete self-sufficiency in both reactor production and raw material supply.”

This accomplishment eliminates dependence on foreign suppliers and strengthens the resilience of critical industrial supply chains.
