Cooperation Agreement Signed Between the Vice Presidency’s Knowledge-Based Companies Center and SATSA

Supporting the Development of Knowledge-Based Industrial Equipment Manufacturers

A cooperation agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Tehran International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition between the Center for Knowledge-Based Companies and Institutions of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and the Iranian Association of Industrial Equipment Manufacturers (SATSA).

The agreement aims to facilitate the knowledge-based certification process for SATSA member companies and to support the development of advanced industrial machinery manufacturing in Iran. The initiative represents an important step toward strengthening domestic capabilities and reducing dependence on imported industrial equipment.

Visit by the Vice President for Science and Technology

During the exhibition, Dr. Sorena Sattari, Vice President for Science and Technology, visited the innovation pavilion of SATSA and reviewed the latest technological achievements of member companies active in the oil, gas, petrochemical, and industrial equipment sectors.

Dr. Sattari emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting domestic manufacturing and removing barriers that have historically limited the growth of Iranian equipment producers. He highlighted the importance of developing local alternatives to imported products and strengthening certification and standardization processes to increase confidence in domestically manufactured equipment.

Objectives of the Agreement

The agreement was signed by Dr. Reza Asadi-Fard, Head of the Center for Knowledge-Based Companies and Institutions, and Eng. Amirabbas Ekhteraei, Chairman of SATSA.

Under the agreement, qualified SATSA member companies will receive support in obtaining knowledge-based status and accessing a range of services, including:

  • Financial support and specialized funding programs

  • Technical and engineering consulting services

  • Assistance with certification and standards compliance

  • Accelerated evaluation and approval procedures

  • Support for commercialization and industrial development

Strengthening Iran’s Industrial Equipment Sector

With more than 230 member companies, SATSA is one of Iran’s largest industrial equipment manufacturing associations. Currently, 72 knowledge-based companies are among its members. The new partnership is expected to increase this number significantly by providing a structured pathway for eligible companies to obtain knowledge-based certification.

The agreement is anticipated to contribute to higher technology adoption, improved product quality, greater competitiveness in regional markets, and increased self-sufficiency in strategic industries such as oil, gas, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and industrial machinery manufacturing.

A Step Toward Industrial Self-Reliance

The cooperation agreement marks an important milestone in supporting domestic manufacturers and accelerating the development of advanced industrial technologies in Iran. By encouraging innovation and facilitating access to government support mechanisms, the initiative is expected to strengthen the country’s industrial ecosystem and create new opportunities for growth, employment, and exports.
